Introduction to the Research Programs

Educational research at this graduate school consists of four areas that serve as the basic pillars: sports science, applied sports science, health science, and health information science. Students affiliated with one area can take 10 credits or more of related subjects in other areas. In this manner, by studying theory and practice in different areas, it is possible for students to deepen their understanding of their own areas even more, and they can gain a comprehensive perspective with a broad cross section of their areas as well as deeply specialized observational skills. In addition, the program includes a class entitled Sports and Health Science Research Method in which students study basic principles and procedures for starting scientific study and an outline of the research process, from drafting research plans to writing up a master’s thesis. Students are studying hard day and night, aiming to become highly qualified teachers, specialized instructors, and professionals with specialized knowledge who will contribute to the fields of health maintenance and health promotion through sports and medical activities.
