The International Center arranged 2016 annual study tour on Feb. 3rd – 4th, 2016. For the purpose of international exchange, 35 students composed of both international and Japanese participated in and shared the time to experience Japanese culture.

Their destinations, Hakone and Izu are popular tourist spots placed in the southern area to Tokyo.

On the 1st day, they visited Mishima Taisha shrine in Shizuoka prefecture to begin with. Some students drew Japanese traditional paper fortunes, “Omikuji”. After lunch, they moved to Hakone and got on board a ship at Ashi-Lake. The weather was so fine that they could enjoy views around the lake from the deck.

At the hotel they took an Onsen bath and enjoyed the gorgeous dinner in the traditional Japanese style.

On the 2nd day, they went for a stroll around the Shuzenji-town, which is famous for the Shuzenji temple since the ancient time and the oldest Onsen in Izu area. The Ume blossoms were so beautiful, walking into the bamboo grove was like being a mysterious world, and the Onsen Manju (Japanese popular sweets at Onsen spots) was so delicious!

They also visited the Nirayama Hansyaro (Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace) registered as a World Cultural Heritage in 2015.

The final event of this tour was strawberry picking. They picked and ate sweet strawberries as much as they wanted.

At the end of tour, they got a happy surprise. The Mt. Fuji had been hidden by the clouds for these two days. But in the very end, it appeared before our eyes! How beautiful you were, Mt.Fuji! How lucky you were, students!!

It was a short trip. However, all of the participants enjoyed the two days and got many precious memories.
