History and Culture

the body

We train students to enable them to broadly discuss history and culture from the global perspective of Japan's place in the world.

Along with the usual history studies for students who aspire to such professions as teacher and curator, this new course will appeal to those who wish to contribute to the tourism industry through their research and investigations.
The program splits into three specialized courses from the second year on. With the Eastern and Western cultures course , which broadly involves studies of world (Eastern and Western) history and culture, students will put the "fusion of Western and Eastern culture"- our university's founding philosophy- into practice. The Japanese history course delves deeply into Japanese history to enable acquisition of the skills to discuss it with the rest of the world. Finally, the history for tourism course, which our university has taken the lead in implementing, benefits society by applying the results of historical research to the actual business of the travel and tourism industry.
