I am interested in art and photography. On the weekend I often go to galleries and museums. I also like cycling and going for walks in the woodland near my home.

My favourite book is “The Hound of the Baskervilles” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is a Sherlock Holmes story about a family haunted by a ghostly dog. The story takes place on Dartmoor in the southwest of England near the town where I was born.

Beatrix Potter was a remarkable woman. She never gave up. She did so much despite the problems she faced. She wanted to become a scientist but was told that it was a job only men could do. She wanted to publish small books for children, but publishers were not interested. She persevered and succeeded. How did she manage it? That is what I am keen to find out in my research.

When you are eighteen, it is difficult to know what to do with your life. At university you have four years to find out. Enjoy the journey of discovery. Make friends. Fall in love. And maybe do some studying, too, along the way . . .
