1. 自己紹介/Self Intrroduction

(1)    氏名/Name: Arianna Bechelloni
(2)    出身国/Home Country: イタリア
(3)    母国の大学/Home University: University of Florence
(4)    日本での留学期間/Period of Study in Japan: 2025年8月~2026年3月
(5)    趣味や好きなこと/Hobby・What you like to do etc…:My hobbies include all that is related to artistic fields. I like to draw and to paint and back in Italy I have started to experiment with oil colors. I also love acting very much: I usually go to the theater or the opera with my friends, but I have also played some roles myself with different acting companies. The thing I love the most about acting is being able to be a different person every time, to experiment with all the different aspects of my personality and to let even the most hidden ones come up and incarnate as a character. Finally, I also love learning languages: I have had a passion for languages since I was in middle school, where I first studied Spanish and then became passionate about English. Later, I grew fond of Japan and its culture, including the language and I started learning it at university.

2. 自国・文化について/About My Country and Culture

My country is a cradle of art and beauty; in every city and every street, even in the most unknown little village, history can be found. In most places the past lives alongside the future, and in my city, Firenze, the beautiful nobiliary palaces from medieval times still stand in the city center, as well as beautiful statues and breathtaking views.  Good food can be found in all corners of Italy, and each region has its own special dishes or typical products; but if there is one thing that all cities have in common is to eat in company! Food is a fully satisfying experience only when shared. Some of the best-known dishes are pasta and pizza, but the food scenery is so much more variegated, from meat to vegetables. The Mediterranean diet is one of the richest, including eggs, bread, fish and many types of meat, alongside vegetables, cheese, oil and occasionally a glass or two of wine. In Italy there are many festivities and holidays, some related to religion, like Christmas, Easter or “all saint’s day” on November 1st, and other related to our history such as “Ferragosto”, the summer break Hollyday which dates back to the Roman Empire, or “Day of the Republic”, June 2nd, which was the day in which Italy officially chose republic over monarchy. These festivities bring each different food traditions and celebrations, such as the “frecce tricolore”, a show in which the Italian Military Aeronautic performs acrobatics with the aid of colored smoke which creates the flag of Italy.

3. 母国の大学について/About My Home University

The University of Studies of Florence is one of the most known in the region, and it offers a wide range of faculties and courses. My faculty includes all humanistic branches, such as languages, literature and intercultural studies, philosophy, science of education, history and protection of cultural heritage, disciplines of arts, music and spectacle. The University’s classrooms are in different areas of the city, from the city center to the most recent neighborhoods. Because of this, both modernity and history can be experienced while learning: the comfort of modern classrooms and the beauty of old churches and palaces which are reutilized as university spaces.

4. 日本留学を決めた理由/Why I Chose to Study in Japan

Initially I wanted to come to Japan in order to improve my Japanese: after having studied it for two years I felt I needed to immerge in the culture completely to get better. My interest in Japanese language and culture dates to my childhood, when I watched anime that were aired on Italian television. This interest grew with time and led me to deepen my knowledge about Japan, and eventually, to learn the language as well. Aside from the more academic aspect, I wanted to experience life in Japan, to create a routine, to become acquainted with spaces and people, to integrate e learn a different way of experiencing everyday life.

5. 大東文化大学の良いところやお気に入りなところ/Good or Favorite Things of DBU

DBU has a beautiful campus with many facilities such as gym, pool, many different sport fields, cafeteria and even some convenience stores. Modern and traditional classrooms, where courses on Japanese culture can be experienced, such as a 茶屋. Common areas and lot of green spaces as well as a shrine in the proximities, allow students to relax in their free time and enjoy campus life in a communal atmosphere. Also, as an international student, I found great comfort in the help of the staff of 国際交流センター, which has always been kind, patient and willing.

6. 大東生へのメッセージ/Messages for Daito Bunka students

I want to thank those students who have shown genuine interest in stalking to us and weren’t afraid to come out of their comfort zone and interact with us, despite the differences and the language barrier. I believe that a community grows stronger when there are diversity and acceptance, and that everyone can find personal growth in dialogue.

7. 未来の留学生へメッセージ/Messages for future international students

Do not be scared to ask for help when needed: this experience is supposed to be lived to the fullest and in the best way possible, so do not refrain from doing what allows you to experience it with peace of mind and comfort. Enjoy every moment, take every chance of learning or growth, which often means to go out of one’s comfort zone, and do it with openness and elasticity.
